Increased Odds Of Injury? Ratings Growth Strategy? Topic

I'm in only my 2nd HBD season, so i'm still flying by the seat of my pants. Couple of questions.

I have a great SP prospect in High-A, Dave McKnight in the link above. His health rating is at 64. After 21 starts, he got a major injury of 60+ days.

64 for health is kind of low, but did i do anything to increase his chances of an injury. Thru 14 starts, he was throwing 5 innings and 75 to 80 pitches a game. Over his final 7 starts, i increased his pitches to around 15 to 20 more per game.

(1) Did i overwork him, increasing odds of an injury? Also, the injury caused him to lose all this season's ratings growth. Will those ratings, once he's healthy, spring back to where he was, or does he basically lose a year of growth due to this injury?

(2) For some players, even those with good Work Ethic Makeup, it seems some ratings get stalled. Is there anything in particular that encourages ratings growth? Like will increasing pitch counts ("strengthening his arm") increase a guy's Stamina growth? Or does that cause injuries?

Thx

How much money do you have budgeted for Medical?

Lots to unpack here.
1a) I'd have set his pitch count, in a 5-man rotation, at 65/70. If you pitch a guy when he is less than 100% on game day, you will increase his risk of both minor and major injury. This is true of all players; the lower their fatigue number, the greater the risk of injury.
1b) The degree to which his ratings return will depend on his makeup, and your training and/or medical budget.
2a) Stamina improves only in the offseason, and the only thing you can do to improve it is increase your training budget.
2b) About development in general-- you improve power, stamina, velocity, range, arm strength, and the yellow ratings only in the offseason and only via your training budget. You improve control, splits (hitting and pitching), GB/FB, pitches, glove, arm accuracy, pitch calling, contact, and batting eye during the season, and these things are improved by playing time and coaching quality. All of these things usually develop for 3-4 seasons (sometimes fewer, and usually fewer for internationals signed at an age greater than 18) and then only trickle forward after that.
2c) Recovery from injury is an exception to when things improve and what makes them improve. Diamond in the Rough status is an exception to how long players develop for; a DitR event basically gives a player a whole new baseline and development trajectory.

Thanks guys,
This is my 1st season with this team, so my Medical and Training budgets were only able to be set at $14 million each. I was advised to getvthose up to $20 million... not sure if I'll be allowed to raise them 6m in the offseason.

Wow, i didn't realize that the yellows only increased in the offseason. That explains a lot. And also, helpful to know that growth only happens for 4 or so years.

Also, wow, i had no idea about certain categories improving via increase playing time, vs others growing via my Training budget.

Thanks again guys.
