Question about Recruiting Topic

As a D3 school, I am very interested in this solid D1 prospect, however, a D1 school is on Very High with No Scholarship offered. There are only 5 cycles left in recruiting, and I am pretty confident that the D1 school is not going to offer. But I don't know if I have enough resources to get to Moderate, High, or Very High. If my offer is the only offer on the table at the end of Recruiting, but I am on Very Low or Low, will the recruit sign with me or just rollover as a JUCO next year?

Thanks for the help.

I am *almost* 100% sure that the recruit always signs with a team if there is a valid scholarship offer on the table at the end of recruiting, regardless of interest level. If you’ve done enough to unlock a scholarship offer, you can sign the recruit. I say almost sure, because my memory is hazy, and it seems like there may have been some instances where players chose juco, but I’m pretty sure those are only ineligibles.

i would not be very confident if it's a sim coach & you're not moderate

And I believe he'll actually sign at that magical 2 am cycle rather than the 11 pm eastern "last" cycle, but not 100% sure on that either.

'moderate' is the best you can be on a d1 recruit at d3

Thanks, guys. It is not a simmy, it is a real coach. I guess we will see when and if he signs.

You can get to Very High in the last 24 hours, if you are in the lead, or very near it. But until the last 24 hours, you’re right, the “red light” holds a D3 team to moderate for those D1 pool players, which is why they never sign until the last day, regardless of whether anyone else is going after them.

In the last handful of cycles, chances are good they have already signed all the players they intend to sign, so you are probably right to be optimistic. I guess it’s possible they might decide to cut a guy late to make room, but that would be a pretty rare occurrence. Also technically possible they were waiting on results from a very late signing recruit, but the vast majority of battles have resolved by the time the last red light opens up.
