This may sound a little silly considering how long I've been playing this game but I was just reviewing the "extended" stats for my hitters on an OL team that I'm running and noticed that the guys who have a speed rating of 80 or above all have considerably more infield hits than my other hits.

My question, as silly as it may sound, is whether a hitter's speed rating increases the number of hits he may accumulate, or if their infield hits are simply included in their avg#? Any input would be appreciated.

I _think_, though I cannot say for sure, that speed does not change outs into hits. I think all that happens is when the algorithm decides what kind of hit it is, speed rating makes it more likely for the algorithm to say "it's an infield hit."

the speedy guys just attempt bunt hits with no one on base frequently

Thanks for the feedback guys. Both of your explanations are probably correct.
