This is NOT related to the other recent thread! Just letting you all know in advance!

But as far as the conference schedule you are given each season, I remember hearing there is a pattern or guideline of some sort. Does anyone know what that is?

some examples I'm referring to are 1) there's one schedule where you have the last two days off in conference play. 2) there's one schedule where you have a day off on Day 2 of conference play. Etc.....

I thought at one point it was possibly based on your finish from the previous season. So if you won your conference every year, you'd have the same conference schedule every year. But I'm not sure if that's it

I don't think it's based on your previous season's finish. But it may be based on your team.

At Arizona I almost always start with Cal or Stanford as the first conference game. First cross-division opponents are Fresno and Hawaii.
End up with Washington and Washington State, then the double bye before the conf tourney.

I think that's the schedule I've had every season.

Checking Arizona in Worlds 1-6 and they have a similar schedule. Worlds 7-10 have a different Arizona schedule

Ok my comment regarding "your finish in the previous season" was just one example of possible answer. There has to be some sort of game logic behind it. Maybe even the answer is a rotation. But if so, what is that rotation based off of?

I always thought your conference schedule was based off of your previous year’s conference standings. But I don’t recall the specific algorithm used.

I've had my Wabash team in D3 Naismith for 50+ seasons and as far as I can remember my schedule has been the same since 3.0 started. I have my first day off after conference game eleven. Then don't play the last day of conference play.

Good info. I looked around after you mentioned this and found a similar situation with D2 Coker. I'm still not sure why. Maybe it's ticket time.

I may wait, as I've sent more tickets this past week than I probably have in my career total.

if so few coaches even realize it's a similar schedule season-to-season is it ticket worthy?
I'm a bit leery of the result. Will a new schedule be 6th, 6th, 6th, 5th, 5th, 5th....

Previously, when you went to the team RPI page you used to be able to sort by the prestige grade and the teams would be ranked in order, with the strongest A+ first. I thought that was fun. Maybe you're 6th overall and you make the Final Four. I liked seeing the incremental progress up to 4th or 5th overall.

Someone submitted a ticket asking about this, and the teams are now listed alphabetically within the same prestige grade. Why did that have to be removed? What was the unfair advantage someone could have gained that needed to be changed? Maybe knowing whether someone had a high A- or low A- during recruiting? Seble didn't realize it was sorted that way and multiple coaches I communicated with liked seeing the exact order.
We discussed it in the forums. Was it that someone wanted to see if this was true and felt the need to submit a ticket? Or did they feel wronged in some way?

jeez.... it seems much better in every way when we could see the teams ranked correctly by prestige

Haha I'm not complaining my man. Didn't mean to upset anyone. I would prefer to see the prestige in the manner you described as well. But I could also see why seble wanted it to be more transparent.

As far as the scheduling topic, I was just curious of HOW we get to the schedule we're given. Would anyone really complain about liking the order of their schedule over a different order? I doubt it. Would seble have any reason to change it? I doubt it as well.

But I'll happily back off of sending a ticket. So no one is offended! I just look at knowledge/info is power. And the more we know the better. Guess not everyone feels that way
8/11/2020 12:16 PM
Not about being offended or too much knowledge is dangerous, but rather cautious when not knowing the reaction to the ticket.

Maybe seble isn't aware the schedules are set as they are. In the case or Arizona the first 6 worlds have the same schedule. Was this something setup 15+ years ago and never changed until newer worlds rolled out?

Maybe the solution they'd come up with would be having #1 start the season with three games against the two #6 from last season. Then three games against 5th all the way through playing the other #1 for the final conference game. Maybe this could work. But if you have a few sims holding up the bottom of the conference, I could see starting conference play with 6+ conference matchups against sims. Not sure a week straight of playing sims would be an improvement.

Not that I care, but none of that would matter anyways. You're going to play them all eventually. And again, my ticket idea wasn't to create change.

If someone preferred to play all easier teams early, there's going to be a crowd that would prefer to play all their hardest teams first. Just for the sake of arguing, and different view points. I can't see why anyone would really care about that. Nor would seble care, in my opinion.

Maybe some like/hate the schedule with two days off at the end. And promote their feelings one way or another. But even if change DID happen for whatever reason, I don't think we'd hear a peep from anybody

or you could be like me and have a team that you have ties to outside this game which is in a conference with nothing but Sim AI and you go 16-0 every season regardless of schedule lol
