Does anyone know: if I pick up a pitcher on WW who is above the maximum $ threshold to be sent to AAA, but I waive a guy in AAA to acquire them, will it put him in AAA, or on the active roster?

Is that still true even if I have open roster slots on the active roster?

I want him to go to AAA and not on the active roster... but didn't want to grab him in case it put him on the active roster.

No idea. But that's an interesting question.

My guess? If you have open roster slot, he goes to your active roster. If you don't have an open roster slot, you might be prevented from picking him up altogether. But really, just a guess.

crazystengel, I am 99.99% (Ivory Snow) sure that is correct. If you have an open spot on the ML roster, that's where he'll go.

Cool... that's what I figured... I'm going to test some things with this... I'll call up a couple AAA guys to fill out the active roster so I have no open spots and then try to pick him up, if it doesn't let me, I'll waive a guy to clear a spot and then try again and see where it puts him

And confirming, with a full roster, he did go to AAA. So now I have 2000 Pedro in AAA in an OL not 15 games in. I can save him until the trade deadline and basically ride his arm alone the rest of the season now.
