Inflated range ratings for 1B as a secondary pos. Topic

Bumping this because I have a some related question to all of this. It basically boils down to finding the optimal spots for 4 guys between the 3OF and 1B spots.

I have
2002 Darin Erstad @1B (A+/A+, 1.000/15.04) / @OF (A/A+, .998/3.67).
1990 Brett Butler @OF (B/A-, .986/2.56)
1994 Lance Johnson @OF (A+/A+, 1.000/3.22)
1993 Kenny Lofton @OF (C+/A, .979/2.69)

Initially I thought Erstad would play 1B since he's the only one rated there, but then I saw in Lance's performance history he has 20+ plays at 1B and 0 errors, which makes me think any of these OF would do well at 1B. So how do I pick the right combo? And should I be switching it often based on other factors like my SP and the stadium? I've seen the thread on K% not affecting +/- plays, but does type of pitcher (groundball vs flyball) factor in at all? What about park effects?

Appreciate any insight. Thanks.

Erstad at 1B and Johnson in CF should get you the best results, but yes, you can play any decent fielding outfielder at first base and they will do well there.

For me, it 100% depends on the stadium. In a +2b/3b park, I'd do Erstad-CF, Johnson-RF, Loften-LF, Bulter-1B.

If XBH are neutral/negative, I'd probably put Erstad at 1B, move Johnson to CF, Loften to RF and Bulter to LF.

2020 Bellinger 1.000/13.49 at 1b; real life RF/G lower than league RF/G. what gives?

tpistolas, what source are you using. b-ref.com shows Bellinger with a RF/9 at 1B of 9.44 compared to lgAv of 8.33

Thanks - my home is ATT, (+1, 0, +3, -3/-3) so I think I'll try your arrangement there with Butler at 1B and adjust on the road.

If I have it right, the idea is that those +3 triples will come from fly balls and I have a better chance reducing them to outs or doubles with my maximum range in the OF?

100%. I have a team going right now in Hilltop - every starter is A++ defense and I'm throwing a 3 man rotation of 230-260ip Roy Halladays (throwing between 70-80% every start).

118 games in im 8th in ERA, #1 in whip, and have 120+ plays (49 from my OF)

I was using BR but looked at RF/G not RF/9. Maybe a bad assumption on my part but I assumed we used RF/G here since we don't have inning by inning data going way back. I could be wrong though
