Rupp this year appears to be one of those seasons where RPI doesn't come out until game 8 instead of game 7. What is the reason for this again? I forget.

I know of a couple things I've "heard" but I can't remember exacts. One thing is I have heard that a couple teams will have 11 non con games that season. If so, why is that again? And is there a pattern with this? Such as it happens every 10 seasons? I believe it's a scheduling balance thing long term.

I'm sure some of you have noticed this before. And maybe what I suggested is completely wrong. I just think I've heard things like this come up before in conversation

I’m in Rupp, and got my RPI today after game 7. And I see your RPI as well.

Looks like D1 has rpi. D2 and D3 do not.

Isn't D2 and D3 usually a day behind DI?

I think it’s because a twam has only played 6 games

exactly. rpi comes out after ALL teams have played 7 games.

there's no pattern. the scheduling algorithm is greedy and not very intelligent - its sort of luck of the draw when it is able to make things work and when it isn't.

even though we switched from 11 non conf slots (still for 10 games for 98% of people) to 10 in 3.0, the same general issues remain. the scheduling algorithm just starts pairing unscheduled folks up for games if they can play, and then sometimes when it gets down to the last batch of people, it can't make it work. folks cannot play a game in non conf if they are in the same conf or already have a non conf game between each other. if the last 2 teams with an unscheduled game cannot play in non conf, the algorithm starts doing goofy stuff. end result - only 98% of folks have 'normal' schedules, and those last 2% cause these little anomalies.
