I've seen this question around the forums before but never a thread so I figured I'd ask.

Does the made-up "spread" impact the postseason projection report? Everything I've seen anecdotally points to yes.

For example before my game this afternoon in Tark I was 25th in both projections and RPI and was a 43 point favorite over a sim team. I won by a measly 27 (<---- sarcasm) and immediately dropped to 30 in RPI and 32 in projection report.

Now, my only other explanation is that my SOS dropped a bit which caused me to move down -- which I guess I would be okay with, I just don't like the idea of the seemingly random and arbitrary spread impacting my seeding in the postseason.

I'm just curious if there's ever been definitive word on what makes up the projection report. I've been told many times it's the only thing that really matters ranking wise, so would be neat to know what all it includes.

Molloy is 268 in the RPI. Beating bad teams at the end of the season hurts highly ranked teams. Margin matters, but main issue is opponent quality

So would you say my drop in rankings is just due to drop in SOS? I guess my thought on it is IRL nobody would look at a 27 point victory and be like “wow that game was close! I think they should’ve won by 43!”

I know using IRL logic on HD is foolish. But just trying to figure out what the postseason projection formula entails

Spread has NO impact

i believe margin of victory has an impact but the vegas spread has no impact.

Gotcha -- this makes sense to me.
