Oddest O/D Combo Topic

Setting aside how much the Off/Def really matters in game play, what is the oddest O/D combo? What's the oddest for improved recruit preferences?

Disagree. I see the logic, but if you're all about offense and straight up outshooting your opponent, it makes perfect sense to use the lowest-effort defense. (Disclaimer: I hate zone.)

Weirdest combo to me is fb/man. Seems like a recipe for major fatigue and fouling issues, and easy to exploit low stamina and defense starters.

If you’re looking at it strictly from the standpoint of balancing stamina, FB/zone may make a lot of sense. If you operate (as I do) on the assumption that the sets weigh the attributes differently, and that these differences can have some significant impacts on certain types of players - especially when you’re trying to find value among players outside the upper echelon pool of recruits - FB/zone makes less sense. It is less common for me to find non-elite players that I like in both FB and zone than it is to find a player I like for FB and press or FB and man (or flex and zone, or press, for that matter).

Triangle/press.

and before everybody tells me I'm crazy, it's just because the two sets don't really "flow". For instance, with press, you can have 12 guys with 75 ATH/SPD/DEF, high ST, and they all can have 0 PER/LP and you can still score 100ppg at D2/D3 (this same player can't score in triangle)

with triangle you can have 50 ATH/SPD/DEF with 100 PER/BH/PAS, and 60 ST and they'll score +20ppg efficiently. (With press, this guy is fouling out in less than 10 minutes every game)

I'm not saying you can't win with triangle press. You can win with them all. But get the best out of both sets, you have to recruit different things. And unless you plan on having 12 guys +800 ovr at D2, then your triangle press is just making you work harder in recruiting than you really have to

I almost exclusively run triangle / press but I agree with this statement generally. However it's not that hard to build an ATH/SPD/DEF squad with all players having 40+ PASS and 3-4 solid perimeter scorers. I usually sacrifice some offensive efficiency for the press but it generally works. Helps to have a very solid PG with elite spd/bh/pass.

Proof you can win at D2 against topp without 800+ while running triangle / press.

Yeah, I got torched by the billings team in NT last year. It's well built.

Haha. That's my youngest most garbage team I have. And that was also one regular season game. But I do know a great example to use against me..... robinhood410's N.Alabama squad is triangle press and that dude owned me in Crum for a while! I had some big wins against him at times. But he took me out of many NTs!

but again, all sets can win. This thread just asked about odd pairings and I feel that's the most odd. Still manageable tho! (I don't know what my deal is with that AIC team. I think i sleepwalk through recruiting or something. I do believe next season we can take a step forward tho..... hopefully)

I know - I was just trolling - had to try and be like Benis and get under your fur (get it, cause you're a dog?). My squad has wins against much better teams and we've been able to hang with some of the better teams in Allen D2 though. Also, while I appreciate cubcub's compliment, this team has some sim-recruited seniors and is at least a season away from being a legitimate postseason threat.

This is reasonable! I can't tell you the amount of times I've had Hispanics walk up to me and ask me if I speak Spanish, in Spanish! I'm not Hispanic, but I must have the look
