I have to figure that Roberts is thinking he has to be ready with Kershaw for a game 7. But that he might avoid a game 7 wasn't in the calculation or at least not worth the risk to him.
But taking the game's greatest pitcher over the past decade out, not with one out in the 8th, or two out in the 7th, but two pitches into the 6th? That is putting three whole innings on other pitchers.
The name Grady Little comes to mind, and Pedro was in the 8th inning of that game, and had thrown 123 pitches, but Grady still gets sh... for pulling Pedro. Pulling Kershaw after 85 pitches in the 6th with a chance to go up 3-2 in the series? It worked out, but man, it coulda been a big mess.
