We're in the offseason right now but I'm trying to figure out who to start at PG next year. My thoughts are mostly related to BH and Passing. But are there other categories I should consider? Both guys will start. Just trying to figure out if it makes much of a difference if I've got one at PG and the other at SG.

Player #1 - Rising Senior
A - 71
SPD - 74
DE - 68
BH - 55
P - 71

Player #2 - Rising Junior
A - 46
SPD - 67
DE - 65
BH - 72
P - 59

What are the potentials for growth for each? Especially BH/P.

If player 2 is black, blue or green in passing I go with them. But if he’s yellow or red then I’d reconsider maybe.

Both players have a little room to grow in passing but not ball handling. Additionally, player 1 has quite a bit more he can grow in SPD even though he's already at 75. I'm not sure if that weighs into someone's decision.

I checked your roster and noticed that you run a triangle offense. I would put Turner (Player1) at PG. He is quicker and the better passer. Put Loehr (Player2), who has a higher PE at SG.

That's what I ran with most of the time last season. I was concerned that Turner's mediocre ball handling might result in more turnovers? But you're saying the emphasis should be put on passing due to our triangle offense?

Offensively, I would lean towards player 1 at PG in any set. With that said, I think the defensive gap is probably bigger than the offensive gap, so I would be very willing to situationally move him to SG if you play man and face a team with a high-scoring SG.

Player 1. And it's not even close. I worry about PAS first. Player 1 is better in ever area except BH. This one isn't even debatable. Dahsdebater has a point regarding the defense. But I don't want player 2 at PG with sub 60 BH

i was pretty much sold on agreeing with all these guys but i definitely would have mentioned that the junior is a juco with b- triangle now and a- zone to the sophs b+/b+. i was assuming the junior had the higher iq and i would prioritize that pass/triangle iq at the 1 like most folks. both of these guys seem to be big scorers for you but i'd probably have included their scoring ratings for consideration too. depending if one was a bigger scorer that would factor in for some folks, i'd prefer to have the bigger scorer at the 2, all else equal, but not much concern here.

anyway the reality of your 2 players is interesting. the #1 guy will have great ath/spd and some quality lp scoring, while the #2 guy is a pure 3pt scorer and by a decent margin your best next year i'm guessing? some folks would say to match the ath/spd guy up against the lower ath/spd guy on the other side, but you are running zone anyway so i'm not sure there is much to be concerned about. i think it really just depends. your soph has better iq and looks to me to be expecting a little better bh/pass growth, and hes already +5 between bh and pass. that +5 isnt enough to swamp the +12 pass right now because like these guys i value pass in particular at the 1 - especially for a less 3pt scoring guy which yours is. but if the soph ended up with an iq lead and more like +10 between bh/pass, closing that pass margin some, i don't know... its close. with both starting and you running zone its not terribly important either way. i'd have mentioned the zone too (just because you asked - i think its good to know what all factors into these decisions, so IMO its a good question to ask), m2m is the 'default' usually.

I appreciate the responses guys! You made me consider things that I hadn't.
