Jim these guys have given you the road map. I’ve been in this game 14 years and just learned a lot from this post. Benis probably said it best, go recruit players. Yes you want them to fall into some of the criteria here but look for players that check most of these boxes, and hammer the high potential guys. Flex allows you to get creative. I’ve played with upwards of 7 guards and run a 3 guard set. I’ve run with 3 SF, etc. You can overwhelm teams with great perimeter shooting and speed. But as stated, find that balance and make sure you have the big men to cover the boards. And don’t panic about having 12 top notch starters. Find role guys too. Grab the big man who can clean up the boards and block shots but can’t shoot the ball into the ocean. These guys are gold off the bench. Can work for a “super star” offensive bench player too. I think flex allows for a lot of fun, you can build with what a recruiting cycle gives you. Also I don’t think mentioned here, and worth noting, have your offensive distribution flow thru your high IQ guys. So keep an eye on your off IQ’s and adjust as they learn the flex. Distribution is another topic, but still helpful even starting out early. Will win you a few extra games. Good luck!
