Not much of a 'commentary' kinda guy, but there IS something that always fascinates me, the way players move up/down the draft...
Couple of interesting (to me) 'move ups' this draft;
Tim Keefe #13 - Doubt he has ever gone this early...
'Little' Joe #28 - Always a late 2nd/early 3rd rd pick...#28 seemed early..
John McGraw ahead of Brett, and both in 1st half of the 2nd ???
Hughie Jennings/Russ Ford #s34-35 - Both seemed early...
Jeff Bagwell #43 - Have never understood the 'Bagwell' love this early...After Gehrig, there are just a TON of 1B...Hard to justify a 2nd on a 1B...
Was about to end this, then I saw Freddie Freeman ahead of Pujols ???
Let me be PERFECTLY clear; these picks were made by owners that do better than me (hell, everybody does), so consider my comments nothing more than an old man's musings...

Couple of interesting (to me) 'move ups' this draft;
>> Here is the data...
Tim Keefe #13 - Doubt he has ever gone this early...
>>mpitt76 once took him at #14 (DEAL 6). His average draft position is #34
'Little' Joe #28 - Always a late 2nd/early 3rd rd pick...#28 seemed early..
>>Average draft position is 51, but bluecrew65 also took him at #28 one draft (DEAL 14)
John McGraw ahead of Brett, and both in 1st half of the 2nd ???
>>Brett (ave #37) was taken ahead of McGraw (ave #61) each of the first 16 drafts. In the last 5 drafts McGraw has sky rocketed (ave #27) and been taken ahead of Brett each time because Brett has only slightly improved his average draft position (ave #33).
Hughie Jennings/Russ Ford #s34-35 - Both seemed early...
>>No and Yes. Hughies Jennings average draft position in the first 20 drafts was 34. Russ ford's Average position was 47, but 7 times he has been in the 30's
Jeff Bagwell #43 - Have never understood the 'Bagwell' love this early...After Gehrig, there are just a TON of 1B...Hard to justify a 2nd on a 1B...
>>Bagwell is an enigma. He averages pick #70, but he has been picked as low as 24 (five times in rounds 1/2) and as high as 127 (four times in rounds 5/6).
Was about to end this, then I saw Freddie Freeman ahead of Pujols ???
>> I guess we'll see on this one. The difference isn't that much and if you prefer current players ahead of from a decade ago, Freddie would be your guy.

>> Although you did win a world series. And yes, it still hurts. :)
