Beaten out by a SIM (Recruiting) Topic

Just curious but has anyone ever got overtaken and beaten by a same division Sim. I was rated Very High this morning before I left for work with the Sim at high or moderate. I booked a couple of him visits before I left only to just get home to see that the fellow D3 Sim team not only overtook me but signed him in 2 cycles. Is this common or an anomaly. This is my first time losing out to a Sim from my own division

Its normal for the sims to continue fighting for a recruit unless they're at very low. Once the sim is very low, they won't pursue the recruit anymore (so that's usually what you need to do). I'm don't have a lot of D3 experience so I'm not sure if it's common for them to overtake you so quickly.

A couple things Eric.... 1) I wouldn't waste your time in the D3 recruiting pool. If you're not familiar with the process, you CAN recruit D1 players but there's difficulty in doing so, that you may not have faced. And you can certainly recruit players from the D2 pool. You'll need to reach into the higher division pools to sign better talent to compete. Look into it if you're unaware.

2) from my experience, for whatever reason, I've had trouble in the lower levels (D2/D3) pushing sims down from the same level. More so than I have trouble pushing down D1 sims as a D2 coach. I don't know if it's because they add more effort early on when competing with a more equal opponent or what. But it just seems more difficult for some reason

Thanks for the feedback to all of you. One thing I should have mentioned TopDog, is that this was a D2 recruit. I've only been back playing a few seasons, but found out after 1 season, that we can now chase D2 and D1 players despite coaching a D3 school. This particular player, despite being a projected D2 player, had solid core numbers, and high potential across the board he became my #1 target. The Sim that made a push was also a D3 program, that in just 2 cycles, went from trailing me in interest level of the recruit, to actually signing him. I left for work this morning confident I had him, and came back not even, or even behind in interest but realizing he was signed. A little surprised to say the least.

Well judging by the info you provided, that sim wasn't a full sim. It appears it was a human controlled team during RS1 and the coach left the school in RS2 and it had just become a sim recently. In that case, it's not always cookie cutter cut and dry.

I'm guessing you guys were battling in RS1 for the player. (Meaning you and the previous coach). With that in mind, this isn't a "standard sim situation". The human that added effort (no matter how much), still had an impact on this battle. As some have mentioned, a Sim doesn't completely die off unless they are pushed to very low. At that stage in recruiting, that's extremely difficult and costly. The earlier you can get the sim pushed down, the cheaper it costs in the long run. (Earlier meaning the first few cycles of RS1, if you choose to do so).

So in this case, pushing the sim down was not really an option. Without being pushed to very low, sim feels like they are still in the race, and will push you for the player.
