Congrats again joey. Blowing that 5 point lead in the final minute of the Elite Eight killed me! Well deserved my friend!

If "mechanically" all slow down is doing is increasing the time it takes for your possession to play out how can you argue teams should be shooting "worse" playing it? More likely the teams playing slowdown are usually underdogs so that when they manage an upset you blame the slowdown rather than the RNG.

Now if CS comes out and says slowdown increase chance of scoring but increases chance of turnover and increases the chance of blah blah blah then we can have a different discussion. But from what I've heard it ONLY affects the game clock.

I looked at 12 games from last night and it looked like 1 team running slow down decreases TOTAL game possessions by 5-7 (6%-8%). Obviously there are other factors that affect tempo. So even that doesn't seem like much of an impact.

If you are intentionally running out the clock per possession more than you would in normal or uptempo, then it stands a chance that a few of those possessions will end in a last second, bad shot with a good defensive effort and no time left on the clock to adjust. I wouldn't think every possession needs this penalty, but that risk of a bad shot should increase slightly running slowdown, just as uptempo tends to increases fouls.

I’m going to start a new tempo thread so we can get out of the way of Joey’s champagne spray.

+1 to this hard.

Also @Mully I love running slowdown with really high STA guys as a favorite. Works very well D1.

Congrats on the title Joey! That loss was painful and I considered not renewing for a moment, but I just chalked it up to being outcoached.

I'm glad you renewed....but I'm going to say you were outcoached. Luck was on my side that night.

Congrats - I wish that the prestige would automatically go to A+ in a championship year. Like with your history, it seems like Vermont should be recognized in terms of prestige, as one of the top teams because it is consistently in that range. Same feelings with our Delaware State team. We just won a title and are still at A.

I hear what you're saying. I had a season where I went to the final 4 and my prestige dropped

Agreed. I feel like winning a title should get any and all D1 teams to A+, and for two seasons. If you don't maintain, sure it should fall off pretty rapidly. But I do believe you should get an A+ regardless of situation, for AT LEAST the next season. But I'd prefer 2 seasons really
