I've been on this site since 2002 (on and off - took a long break from about 2013-14 until the lockdown this year). When I started, open leagues and $80m themes were the only options. I think I played 2 open leagues and no more (out of 240 teams or so). Even back then it was all cookies, so I had no interest. I suppose now, if I just wanted to rack up some credits I could blatantly copy some teams winning 115+ in OL, but that's lame.

I like higher caps and creative themes. But I make playoffs maybe half the time, have 19 titles and won one TOC. I play because I like it. I can't understand anyone that just rolls the same team out over and over again.

"they" is used a lot but never see you actually put a name to these so called OL gods who cash in on newbs and live in an amazon palace.

I'm sure that to reach their current level of success, each of the top 25 players listed spent thousands of dollars over the years buying teams and learning the nuts and bolts of how this game works, so eventually they could consistently win championships. I'm also sure that along the way, they all endured the well-known frustration of some losing seasons, while gaining experience and knowledge.

If someone takes out student loans and works hard for a finance degree in business school, shrewdly reinvests their earned income with discipline and within the rules of the system throughout their career, and they are successful enough to live off the interest in their later years, than who am I to fault their prosperity?

Many of those listed help relative novices like me by sharing valuable info in these forums. I've personally found that their tips have helped me improve my teams incrementally. In fact, just last week, for the 5th time, I re-listened to the 2 podcasts in which skunk and ozomatli were interviewed, because both owners kindly offer up so much useful info.

Plus, very little in this game is actually hidden. I see many of those owners listed succeeding in open leagues, and view it as an opportunity to examine their results vs. stats, to try and reverse-engineer how their teams win. That challenge is part of the fun of the process.

Many of the consistent winners of championships have given back to novices like me, by sharing their roadmap to success. It's just that some novices choose to read the map and slowly walk down the same path, and others do not.

The top 5 owners on that list have a combined 1 OL team out right now.

Hey, I'm #12 on that list! Had no idea I was so high. I assume I'm not one of the OL moo cow milkers, though. Never played OLs much. Only 10 championships there in 15 years, and only one in the past 7 years. I play almost exclusively in progs/themes.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around what the concrete complaint is in this thread. I wouldn't mind seeing it written out in one succinct English sentence.

As chargingryno pointed out, most of the people on this list, especially the top ones, rarely even play in OLs, and in any case you have on this list some of the most innovative, creative owners on this site, people who are often trying out new things, new themes, new strategies and also are generous in sharing these with the rest of us quite often.

Your main complaint is probably legitimate bagchucker, but you seem to be aiming at the wrong specific targets here.

I hope so. Because:
