Question: Giving a scholarship, then RS a walkon Topic

First, I am so happy to finally have a walk on that I am considering keeping after 60 seasons. Check him out here: https://www.whatifsports.com/hd/PlayerProfile/Ratings.aspx?tid=0&pid=4724239 . He is a good prospect that I project to top out at 725. Not bad for a "B" prestige season.

I am stacked this year and dont plan on playing him, though I plan on keeping him at the end of the year so I can maintain the extra 20 recruiting minutes. My questions is can I: 1.) Not play him all year to keep the recruiting credit?; 2.) Offer him a scholarship at the end of the season? 3.) RS him, even though he is a walk on?

Thanks in advance. I checked the forum logs and couldnt find anything on this topic.

I have never offered a scholarship to a walk-on. Some of them are decent now though.

I’m not sure if you’re able to redshirt a walk on once you offer a scholarship. If you can, though, the deadline to apply a redshirt is right after the NT game sims. You have until the end of that day.

You can offer him a scholarship right after the NT game and then see if it allows you to apply a redshirt. Someone else can probably comment on the definites.

I have offered walk-ons Scholarships before. Rare in my many seasons, but I have grown partial to one or two. What I have found is that the game will "improve" some potentials once you offer the Scholarship. Some of his reds will turn Orange or Blue and some of his Oranges will turn Blue and Green. It is like the prize at the bottom of a Cereal Box, and you have no control what potentials or even if they will. And yes, I believe once they are scholarship players, you can redshirt if they have not played.
