New team no hope Topic

So I'm taking a new team that has 6 open roster spots but not a lot of talent in phase 2 to pick from.
I'm thinking suck it up with walk-ons for a few spots so next season I will have more AP and money.
Am I missing something?

Yes, in your situation, I'd rather take walkons than sign weak players.

I normally try to take 3 or 4 and take two walkons for the rest .. Redshirt one of the 4.

I mean.. You can recruit JUCOs and transfers next season and take more walk ons in this season, both are viable. So it just depends.

But for me, I like to try to get 3 spots per year (+/- 1).. So I wouldn't want 6. But that is just me.

At Ball State in Phelan I took over a terrible D1 team with 4 openings and cut 2 players. I spend most of my budget on 2-3 guys. I found an extra 3-4 that I liked and got for AP and a scholarship but in hindsight a walk-on may have been a better option. I plan on cutting a couple more sim-recruited players in the next offseason but I've kind of handicapped myself for RS1 recruiting. So...lesson learned. Take up to 3 walk-ons and focus your budget on landing 2-3 solid guys. If you can get one stud in there, awesome, he'll be the guy who can help carry your team when it's mostly juniors & sophs and he's the lone stud senior on the roster.

You can also sign transfers with 1 year left. You’ll still get the AP since they graduate and odds are they’ll be more serviceable than a walk on.
