Redshirting Inel's Topic

Hoping someone can help me out with strategy here. I've only ever played DIII but just took over my first DII team and I now have to take into account Inel's for the first time. Is there any reason you shouldn't redshirt an Inel, unless you're really holding out for him to become eligible and you'd much prefer he plays right away? I'm still in Recruit P2 so this is hypothetical but I assume I'll have to deal with an issue like this eventually.

I also read somewhere recently that you should probably put every practice plan point into SH for Inel's. Is this an accepted practice by all? Thanks for the help all!

you can't redshirt them while they're ineligible. You might be able to redshirt them their sophomore season, but the system won't allow you to redshirt them while ineligible.

Ahh I see. What if they were to become eligible at some point during the their freshman season (assuming that is something that happens). If they've obviously not played yet, can you redshirt them then?

they do not become eligible during the whole first season... nothing you can do about that. so the redshirt is not an option their whole freshmen season.

You can't redshirt an ineligible player at all. The system won't allow you to as it gives them a sixth year. Won't work. Not even an option in this game. Apparently the only way to get that sixth year is if your player gets injured and he receives a medical redshirt but in nearly 15 years of playing this game, I've never even seen that happen once. It's somewhere in the FAQ's (or was anyway) but I'm not sure that even exists anymore. Good thinking on your part though.

Since ineligibles don't even practice, the general consensus is to put all their minutes into SH, yes.

Well .. you can't Red Shirt them .. BUT .. they do retain 4 years of eligibility.

So, it is like you recruited that guy the following season, and you can't Red Shirt him but he has 4 years.

at DI 4 years of eligibility IF they make grades - and supposedly also some risk that a player will just go after 3 years - but I have not seen that happen. Must be very rare

i think your juco needs to be at a 2.7 to guarantee his return after senior year or something like that? but in the lower division - at least d3 but perhaps d2 - i don't think this rule applies?

my brain is telling me this is the thing you are talking about, but another part is asking, does that really exist? i think it does... but maybe someone else can confirm.

I'm almost 100% certain the 2.7 rule applies to D2 as well.
