Are these good pitcher ratings? Topic

Am I missing something here? Are these good ratings for relievers?

Stam/Ctrl/vL/vR
35/70/79/82 : 35/80/71/77 : 38/91/73/76

These are the current ratings of 3 relievers I have that are combined 0-15 with blown saves through 106 games.

Id say Player Profile: Wandy Arcia - Hardball Dynasty Baseball | WhatIfSports should over the long haul be about a 1.35 whip pitcher. Id have him with a max 35 pitch count and pull rating of 2.
Player Profile: Carlos Paez - Hardball Dynasty Baseball | WhatIfSports slightly better at about 1.25 whip with the same settings.
Player Profile: Amir Butler - Hardball Dynasty Baseball | WhatIfSports at about 1.20 whip with the same settings.
All are good adjust your pitch counts and pull settings and id expect these numbers over the long haul.

Yes. All three are slightly above average mlb quality pitchers. If you take control, each split and the two top pitches; and four of the five are above a 75 rating, odds are, they are an above average mlb pitcher.

Arcia-- should have an ERA in your park and league of low 4's, consistent with his career ERA. From his game log, you seem to be using him fine and your defense appears to be solid. This is a fluke.

Paez-- exactly the same as Arcia except he's barely thrown any innings at all. Teeny tiny sample size.

Butler-- same deal as Paez.

Guys that you put at setup will have bad records and a lot of blown saves unless you or simmy pitches them in the 9th a lot-- because if they do the job your closer gets a save (and they get a hold, which HBD doesn't record), and when they get hit they take a blown save and a loss. Look at their ERA and WHIP instead, and even then 2/3 of a season is a small sample size.

Really solid bullpen, gives you a lot of innings and a lot of flexibility. What dedelman said, they're getting bad results this season but the process is correct. I evaluate my pitchers first by OAV and WHIP. Then I look at season-to-season variance. If something's out of whack I figure it'll correct itself.

Arcia is having a down season but I see in the past he's also had excellent seasons. Wouldn't be a surprise if next season he has another good one.

Paez and Butler, definitely small samples. Anything under 50 or 60 innings can be a fluke. In Paez' case, his ERA doesn't match up to his OAV/WHIP at all. That's just bad luck. If anything I might adjust my settings so that these two can get into more games.

By the way, those guys are still on entry level contracts. Solid bullpen.
