Just a fun side note...
The term "true freshman" (emphasis on "true") is really only used in college football. But I've noticed ESPN has been using it in their college hoops coverage this year for some reason. It's as if Chris Fowler or Kirk Herbstreit has taken over the ESPN college hoops department.
College hoops actually rarely even makes a big deal about "redshirt freshmen" either... i think because thru the years, so many first-year freshman basketball players gave excelled immediately, that no one cares that the star freshman is in his first year. At most they might say that a guy redshirted as a freshman.
