Optimum time for in-season promotions? Topic

Greetings,

Thinking about when to promote guys thru the minor leagues. Nominally, I guess evaluating players every 40 games or so. Then I was thinking, better wait for the next "regular season" ratings bump, then promote right after that, figuring if I promote them before an upcoming reg season eval they'd miss out on it. Is this accurate? Also, can you tell exactly when the reg season evals are, like is it after 30, 60, 90...games? Or, do promotions not impact reg season evals and I'm crazy for even thinking about this?

Think of development happening on a regular incremental, game-by-game basis. The points only become real though when there’s a trigger event that visibly pushes the points to a players profile. These trigger events include the regular season development cycle increases that you’re referring to, but they also include promotions, so no, you won’t lose out on any development by promoting.

This is, however, why many coaches promote their key minor league guys in the postseason. Typically guys have played a number of games since the last development cycle and you can push those increases to their profile via a promotion to make sure you don’t lose any points that haven’t shown up over the off-season.

interesting...and a different way than I was thinking. Given this, it seems it doesn't matter when you do a mid-season promotion...doesn't matter if a regular season cycle had just been recorded or whether it's been a while.

Are the reg season "recording" cycles done on a discernable basis, like every 30 games or 30 HBD days?
