Set out with 1 job in mind: Long Beach State. Not a great job or conference, but meaningful to me.

Played 5 seasons at D3 and built national championship contender, from C- to A+.

Spent just 2 seasons at D2, dropping an A- team to a B- (RPIs of 66 and 136). Opted not to stick around for rebuild.

Currently 4 seasons in at DI (Princeton), taking team from D- to C-, and moved the needle on Princeton RPIs from the high 200s to, in order, 276, 145, 147, and 104.

After this past season, bumping us up to 104 on a very tough nonconference schedule, got an end-of-year letter that the school was disappointed: "Well it was bound to happen - you can't sustain that level of success forever - ask John Wooden, oops I guess you can't. Anyway, I think we all have faith in where you are taking the men's basketball program."

Applied to my "dream" job at Long Beach State and was rejected as they want someone who has built a consistent winner.

If I could withdraw my renewal for next season I would and then walk away from HD. This is my 2nd go round with HD and this is why I quit the 1st time (a few years ago).

What the hell is so precious about Long Beach State that my winning track record is not good enough? They'd rather stick with a losing AI? Serious flaw in the game that motivates me to stop playing and spending entirely. Not asking for the Duke job here. Sheesh.

Yeah, the game needs to make it easier to take sim AI DI jobs imo. It’s not good for the game to have no coaches there, so if a human wants to coach a lower level prestige team it should be super easy.

My advice would be to focus more on your Defense. Even at a low prestige D! i would never sign a player that wont get to at least 70 DEF before they graduate. You need to focus on being the best in the ivy league and winning the CT. This will up you prestige and make you available for the LBS job.

Also change your mindset a little. IF LBS is the ultimate goal then go out there and earn it. Once you finally get there the feeling will be well worth it. It took me 4 years to get to my dream job last season in Phelan. I left a great team behind at St Louis but i finally got my Alma Mater Louisville and i have no regrets.

Go Cards!!! Go Billikins!!!

PS: If the Billikins win the NT im claiming it because every player on that team was recruited by me.

I'd recommend just stay. You stated what, 11 seasons? That's nothing. Just hang on for a season or two more and you'll have your job.

You said you dropped your D2 team downward. Had you stayed there instead of going D1 to start over again, I think you'd maybe be eligible by now. I don't think it would take a lot to get your LBSU job. But now your profile shows 3 jobs in 11 seasons. I feel like if you stayed at D2 and built that team, you may have been eligible faster. But I'm also not a jobs expert. It just seems when you go to a new school it kinda resets things.

Thanks, y'all. I can see how the D2 experience hurt the cause. Got impatient. If coach hiring in RL were like this (I know . . . ), there'd be 150 DI schools without coaches. Just seems like the system is bonkers.

Hang on. You spent four years at D1 and never had an RPI lower than 100 (though had one NT appearance and a first round exit), and only one PIT bid in you DII years prior, where you topped out at a 66 RPI? And now you think a C- Long Beach State will welcome a coach from a C- Ivy League school who could not even bring his team to the PIT last season? The jobs process is not at all bonkers. Some people are simply unwilling to take personal responsibility for their ineptitude.

Perhaps you should stick with Candyland. Fewer possibilities for disappointment.
Damn somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed today. The point was that any human is better than simai. I agree. If any human with at least one year of D1 experience wants a C- or worse team then they should have it if it is currently being coached by that a-hole simai. All the guy wants is to coach his alma mater, LBSU which is surprisingly a D1 school.

I have to think it's better for WIS in general if an owner who cares is paying every 2 months to run a team that they care about rather than having a non-paying and indifferent robot run that team. I'm not putting quarters into the video game forever.

This my resume' in Tark, which got me qualified for 40+ D1 schools. The jobs logic i think has softened up, which i think is a good thing

Salve Regina:
157 - nuthin.
158 - nuthin.
159 - NT 1st Round.
160 - NT Sweet-16.
161 - NT 2nd Round.
162 - NT Final Four.

"the Inter-regnum"
163 - not in Tark.
164 - not in Tark.
165 - not in Tark.

Medgar Evers:
166 - nuthin.
167 - nuthin.
168 - NT 1st Round.
169 - NT 2nd Round.
170 - NT 1st Round.
171 - NT 1st Round.

Really surprised this resume' in D3 qualifies me for 40+ D1 schools (no Big Eest schools though). But i think that's a great change.

Is that Season-162 Final Four still carrying a ton of weight?
2/23/2021 2:25 PM
not a ton but some. the last X seasons resume thing is 10 seasons - those 3 not in tark don't count - so those 4 NT appearances including the final 4 at the end of regina are all counting for something.
