When you spot a clear alias in an OL pretending to be a “new owner”?

a team in an OL I’m in is claiming to be a new owner on his first team, yet here is his roster below:

Don’t see a lot of rookies who draft a team full of cookies while bringing in 5000 pa and 1203ip.

Maybe I’m wrong, but I’m 99.9% confident this is an alias

To be clear, I have no problem with someone having an alias - posting “I’m new and don’t know what I’m doing” when they’re clearly not is just trying too hard

Most of my teams perform like they were drafted by someone who just signed up if it means anything

I'd be lying to you if i didn't look at those World Series snapshot from across leagues and borrow ideas from the best performing OL teams. Now I always got to put my spin on it a bit but i definitely use parts of other teams.

I always like asking why the alias... I don’t mind the alias (I mean that’s how I started here; with dozens of usernames so I could keep spring leagues active constantly), but I find alias use fascinating. Some are very obvious and you’d never guess others until they accidentally post something from the wrong account.

There was an owner recently that posted in a hot topic thread and everything about it screamed alias and it made me wonder why someone would go through the effort to buy a team just to post an opinion on an account that isn’t tied to their main identity here. Most owners are fairly anonymous anyway, what difference did the account make? Was it because they thought their opinion would be unpopular or because they thought it would carry more weight if it came from a new owner as opposed to one who’s been here awhile?

Definitely something I find fascinating. I usually ask them about it (either in the league or via sitemail).

It's their $12.95. They have as much a right to enter a team as anyone else. You can always opt out and join a different league.
