When calculating whether a player is the top 20% or 40% at their position, does the sim only contemplate stats accrued at the player's primary position? For example, if I have a guy whose primary position is listed as CF, but I play him for the full season at 2B, will he accrue zero stats at CF, falling out of the top 40%, and therefore not get a comp pick? Will the CFer's stats be accrued at 2B and ranked against other 2B? I.E. if he's listed at CF, but finishes in the top 40% at 2B, will he then have a comp pick attached to him?

For reference here is what the Help Guide says for comp picks:

Free-Agent Type - This indicates the type of free-agent that caused this pick to change hands. Type A players are those who rank in the top 20% at their position group in the big leagues (C, 1B/OF/DH, 2B/3B/SS, SP and RP). Type B players rank between 20% and 40% at their position groups in the big leagues.

Off hand my understanding is that the player will be assigned his position by the sim based on their defensive ratings rather than the position played in previous seasons. Similar to the Rule V draft position being listed by the sim recommendation instead of what shows on the player card.
