I thought the same joey during this past recruiting in Naismith. Lost an international recruit that I had been on from start of RS1 with 45 APs every cycle to a D1 that came in late in RS1 and had worse prefs than my team (was very good/good in all prefs). The only advantage that he had over me was an extra roster spot so he could get more HVs in than I could.
If you haven’t lost recruits in this fashion before, it’s because you’ve been lucky, not because something has changed. The extra prestige plus division bump vs your D2 squad is pretty big, so if they matched or exceeded your HVs, it’s not difficult to make up ground on your ~800 AP head start, especially if the player wanted to play, and they offered promises. I guess I would raise an eyebrow if this was a D level D1 and they did it in under 4 cycles. But outside of that, it’s just Wednesday, I think.
I don’t attribute it to being lucky, I attribute it to recruiting bad players that even the D1s don’t like lol

I guess I was more surprised I lost that quickly on a recruit (I believe it was around 3-4 total cycles). But if you were to put it in real life, if a decent D1 offers you a starting spot + mins and a decent D2 offers you the same, which one would you take?
What was the prestige difference, and did the recruit sign in the first period, or the second period?
I’m a B+ in D2, he’s a C+ in D1. Signed 2nd cycle of RS2, D1 didn’t appear until 2 cycles remaining in RS1.

I will say I think recruiting will be a lot harder now on for D2 teams with how much easier it is to move up to D1.
I agree. And D3 will be very very difficult to continue targeting elite D1 players. But THIS is actually one of the changes I agree with for the game. I'm ok with this part of the game. I actually hope it will balance things out and make sure the elite talent isn't falling to D2 and D3 so often. The way the game SHOULD be

I think the slight change in scholarship value may have affected you. We don’t know exactly what that change is, but I think what’s been discussed here is a reasonable assumption; but still I don’t think that fundamentally changes the nature of what you’ve always been up against, as a B+ D2 school facing a C+ D1 school who might be willing and able to match or exceed you in visits and promises. That prestige gap + division bump is very large, and you need more than just preferences and an AP head start to fend off that D1 if the recruit is a real priority for them.

Some things are changing in recruiting just by nature of having more humans at higher levels of D1, that is very true, and we are all wise to take that into account.
