I feel the Small Forward position can go either way, but essentially will determine the direction of your team. What I mean is are you basically throwing three guards out there, or no...
Example:
I personally am in a bit of a bind with my Oklahoma team not know which way to go. I have three very talented players for two spots, however one of them will end up being the 6th man. (Not saying that’s a bad thing). Getting a solid pop off the bench can be vital.
(So)Donnie Battles (SG)
(Fr)Andrew Navas (SG/SF)
(So)Greg Nale (PF/SF)
My present issue is this: Do I play a three guard line up which will maximize my speed, BH, passing, and most of all give me two legit threats from deep in the starting line up... (Battles/Navas) Or
Do I put a slightly undersized PF at the 3... (Greg Nale) has very good ATH, DEF, and LP.. It just concerns me putting a guy with 53 SPD in that spot. This problem is compounded by the fact that I have to start (Fr) Andrew Navas (recruiting promise), and if Nale were to start at the 3, this will slide Navas to the 2. (Even though he was listed at the #2 SG in the nation out of high school, I think he is better slotted at the other wing considering the fact that his SPD not Passing is not ideal for a SG.
I do however have better bench players in the front court, so to have the best players on the court at all times Greg Nale would need to start...
Tough decisions... I could also just adjust the line up to mirror the kind of defense we are up against..
