A+ range making a minus play Topic

Ok so this is something I’ve seen a couple times recently, a player with A+ range making a - play. The most recent example is 1997 John Valentin at second base. I’ve been playing sim baseball on this site for 5 years and I don’t remember this happening before. I always thought that the point of paying for range was not only having that fielder make + plays but also not having any - plays. I get it when you have guys with B-C range you’ll see them make both plus and minus plays throughout the season (sometimes in the same game) but with an A+ range fielder I’ve never seen any negative plays. Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

I draft a lot of A+ range players, happens once in a blue moon, about same as a D- getting a + play I'd say, just a freak occurence.

A guy who makes 20 + plays and 1 minus play is better than a guy who makes 10 + plays and no minus plays. Don't sweat an occasional minus as long as the + plays keep coming. Nobody is perfect so 0 minus plays isn't even realistic.
Also, was he at 100%? Slightly fatigued players will make an occasional minus just because they're tired.

Yes he was at 100%, and I agree that I’d rather have twenty + plays to one - play rather than fewer + plays with no - plays. The reason I asked was that it’s the second time I’ve seen it in a week (the other player it happened to was 2007 Curtis Granderson) and I’d never noticed it happening before. Like Funk said it’s probably just a freak occurrence (or occurrences) thanks.
