Curious to get your thoughts...if your team is rebuilding, does it make sense to spend on the higher ranked coaches at the ML level?

Other than the Fielding coach, who roams all levels, the ML-level coaches are only working at the ML level, so does it really matter? Shouldn't those resources be better allocated towards minor league coaches or elsewhere?

Now, there may be a couple guys on the big league squad you plan to be part of the team when it's competitive, so I can see the argument for spending on ML coaches. In my particular case, none of my current ML pitchers will still be there when (hopefully) competitive, so at least save some budget there, no?

I want the best coaches I can get at each level regardless if I am going for it or rebuilding. Helps all the players progress and, hopefully, reach their projection. Also, if you find a really good coach this season, you hope he sticks around for seasons to come.

Some owners will spend for coaches at the AAA and AA levels and put all of their prospects at those levels, then fill the other three levels with whatever coaches they can get.

If you put bottom of the barrel coaches at the MLB level in order to save money, what happens to the spring training bumps? They likely don't disappear, but are they smaller bumps because mlb coaching is below average? If so, think about the development that is being missed. This would be especially true if you are drafting high school and developing for three to four seasons. That could be four seasons of lackluster spring training bumps.

Coach effects are overrated IMO.

Stash all your future ML'ers in AAA with decent coaches and you'll be fine. Game appearances are more important than coaches as far as I can tell.

For ML, wait until the last few cycles to sign coaches (or rather put in a half price bid first day and hope others see the +1 offer and move on). In most leagues you can pick up 80-99 ranked ML coaches for half price this way.
