Question 1:
i love creative and fun names and I think people should even be free to use established nicknames for their home towns;
for example, boston can be beantown. I think it adds something. What’s the harm?
question 2
no. The issues raised with Trading core players are complicated and it makes my head hurt.
question 3
zero.
I'm not opposed and there is no harm, but the idea of the league is that by having Core 4 players, as the opening sentences of the mission statement says for the league, you feel ike you are managing that historic team.
And of course the commissioner, whether it is always me or was anyone else, has to keep track of which team each owner is managing, without having the team name. It's just another thing to think about. Not a disaster, not a game-changer for me, but if you are supposed to be sure that the Core 4 for the 1944 Cardinals played all season and you have to look up a team called the St. Louis Redbirds it's fine. If it gets too creative and they are called the Midwest Aviaries or something, or an even more postmodern name, it means a lot of legwork to keep track of which team is which when the actual Real Life roster is essential to the league idea.
I am not saying how to vote on this and will live with the outcome of the vote, but just trying to answer your good question.
