Obscure non qualifier question Topic

We all know that a nonqualfier cannot red shirt after he sits his first year. Cant red shirt that season and cant red shirt in later seasons

But, what about a guy who is a non qualifier at another school. Say he then played there his soph season, but transfers (unhappy with unmet promises or gets cut).

Can a new school that signs him - with three seasons of eligibility - redshirt him?

I haven't run into this in the game, but logically the new team still shouldn't be able to redshirt him. He already used his redshirt year (as an academic non-qualifier). You get 5 years to play 4 seasons.

No. The only time this can work (I think) is if a DNQ signed with a D3, where eligibility doesn’t matter. At that point, the restriction is gone. If he is cut or transfers due to broken promises, he can be redshirted at his new school.

im 98% sure it has been confirmed previously on the forums that these guys are right, that a DNQ (outside d3) who is recruited, transfers, and then is recruited again, cannot be RS'd by the new coach.

this answer makes total sense to me
