(I have to apologize for posting bad data earlier today. I thought I had switched to Safeco in my original data run, but had actually just simmed more Veterans' games. Sorry if anyone was misled. I think you will find this data set more sensible.)

This is the first of a three part series of ballpark comparisons. I've used the SIM Matchup tool to sim the same team against itself a bunch of times. The specific players aren't that relevant. I just chose some great hitters who are average in the field and hit a variety of hit types, and I chose bad pitchers with 0.4-0.8 HR/9 and 8+ IP/G. Included in the data is a calculation for two standard deviations to the low and high side of the AVG. The confidence level of 2StDev is 95%. The sample size is roughly 10,000 ABs for Veterans Park and 4,800 ABs for Safeco. (Subsequent park tests will be ~5,000ABs)

Could you consider adding Dodger stadium and Skydome comparison as well?

I don't see Skydome in the choices for ballpark. Can you confirm I'm not missing it?

Looks like it’s only available in themes. Could swap it for Exhibition Stadium to give similar stats

The batting average for Baker is a little lower, but it's interesting that the Total Bases per 100ABs is the same. Perhaps the park factor is more descriptive of overall slugging. I'll keep that thought in mind as we get more data.

This is fabulous... I’ll plug in some generic data (or if you have the team composite AVG, 2B/H, 3B/H, HR/ rates and the composite pitching OAV, ERA, HR/9) to get some estimates from my ballpark chart. We can use this to narrow down the estimates further on specific parks. But so far, at a glance, the data seems to mirror expectations from my chart.

If I recall, park factor is a factor of runs scored. Which stands to reason that while BA is slightly lower, a higher 2B/HR ratio will make up for the TB and runs scored.

Based on previous communications from
WIS, the park factor only describes
the run scoring environment and isn’t used in the sim. It’s provided to give an idea of how the different individual effects work together to impact run scoring/prevention.

I wish Admin would bring the park factors out a decimal point or two.

Have you ever compared Riverfront vs Rogers? They have the same raw stats but the park factor is .90 vs. 1.03
