First, I know there are so many good old threads, I have been reading through them. However, some of those seem outdated.

I am trying to build my first 80M team. I currently have the draft set up with a 43M Pitcher 37M Hitter budget. The pitching is the clear strength of this roster so I am leaning towards a pitcher park, probably SafeCo. However, I am concerned I won't score many runs because I am having a hard time filling in the order with good average hitters who aren't a complete liability in the field.

When I do find a good average hitter with good OB%, their 2B, 3B, HR rates aren't very good. My perspective is that a .250-.275 avg isn't good enough to score runs consistently in a pitcher-friendly park. Is that wrong?

Any other tips from vets here?

There are decent players out there under $5M, some with 40 doubles and 10 triples. You won't get everything you want, some sacrifices must be made. Perhaps focus on specifically singles, doubles or triples, then put them in a park that provides them a chance to shine. There are excellent parks for all of them. In the Mile High league we've seen Heinie Reitz and Chief Wilson hit tons of triples. Lots of players can hit 200 singles or 50 doubles within that price point. Happy hunting...

This depends on the way(s) in which your pitching staff is strong. Having the right pitchers for a park is just as important as having the right position players.

Not to speak for him, but I think Doc is saying there are good hitters you can get the most from in whatever park you've chosen to fit the needs of your pitchers.

A decent all around team can win in most parks. For a doubles team you could choose Fenway, or perhaps go more conservative and choose Target. All you're doing by selecting a more hitter friendly park is putting more pressure on your pitching, creating higher scoring games, forcing your hand to spend more on pitching. I would choose the more friendly pitcher park that still gives your doubles hitters a place to thrive. Doing that allows you to stay on your $43/37 original budget, similar to what I tend to use...

Would you be willing to share your PAs and IPs?

I go for a pitcher’s park if I’m lacking in those departments to save on pitches and PAs.

And I go to extreme hitters parks like Palace or Hilltop whenever I have more than enough.

Going for a 3-man rotation, 1 closer, 2 setup men, 1 long relief - IP total around 1300
PA around 4700-5000
