"A bump in the road?" Topic

Two seasons ago, my Central Connecticut State team went 20-10. We won our conference tournament and went to the NT.

This season, we won 23 games but got beat in the conference tournament. After this, our prestige dropped to C-, which I get because not going to the NT is unfortunate. However, I got the "a bump in the road" note from the AD, with language about rebuilding.

It's minor compared to other stuff that gets talked about on the boards, and it's probably mostly aesthetic, but isn't this misleading? 99% of mid-major teams would be ecstatic with a 23-win season (and 43 wins and two regular-season conference championships in as many seasons). Talking about that like it's a problem or a step back in any way sure doesn't seem productive.

Bump in the road means that your performance was disappointing compared to history and expectations

Your status like declined from exceeding expectations to meeting expectations. It doesnt matter much
