M2M position question Topic

M2M- Say I have a great BH/P PG who is poor at D, and my upcoming opponent has a dominant offensive PG. If I start my PG at SG to hide him defensively, am I giving up a big part of my offense, or would my team still enjoy the same BH & P benefits whenever he is on the floor?

Similarly, say I have a 90 REB C and a 60 REB PF, but matchups dictate I should switch them. Am I giving up rebounding by playing my 90 REB C at PF? Or do I still get the same benefit of him just being on the court during a missed FGA?

the WIS sim was a bit ahead of its time in a manner of speaking, in terms of allowing for positionless basketball. its definitely fluid - but its not fully positionless. moving bh/pass from the 1 to 2 is going to hurt your team turnovers and will have a slight hit to team efficiency. it still well may be worth moving to counter the opposing team's leading scorer, but it definitely depends on the circumstance.

the bigs are easier, i tend to prefer more reb at c but very slightly, i wouldn't sweat moving those around, you get near full benefit, and perhaps even full. the pg vs sg difference on bh/pass is probably at least 3x bigger and probably more. especially related to the passing. but its still not devastating to your offense or anything along those terms, to switch a reasonable bh/pass sg with a good pg.

also, think about who is second at those positions - maybe swap your PG and SG, but put your PG 2nd at PG - in the hope that he will spend less time on the floor against the opposing starting PG but maybe spend some good minutes there facilitating....?

Also consider a double teaming the opposing PG. That might allow you to keep your PG in the ideal position while lowering the efficiency of the opposing PG.

Thanks for the advice, guys! Lots of things to consider in M2M, that's why I kinda prefer it; seems to allow for an extra layer of coaching/gameplanning. First time D1er so I'm trying to weigh positional traits vs best available as I try to recruit and build my team.

One follow-up: Does this change at all going against a Press? i.e. Does my PG always "bring the ball up," or does the SIM just take into account all my players, or like a sliding scale with PG most important, SG 2nd most important.... down to C being least/non important? I've definitely had the most trouble against FCP so far overall.

Thx again in advance!
