Can't see that link. However it's likely that he was on the 40 man roster for several seasons prior to being called up. Option years are not the number of times you get called up, it's the amount of time you spend on the 40 outside of the majors.

This. A player uses his options, one per year, each year he is both (a) on the 40-man and (b) spends any time in the minors. Your guy was added to the 40-man in season 50, and it's season 53 now; he used his options in seasons 50, 51, and 52.
