Is still a viable strategy when taking over a new to team to leave it a 0 for all player to get a feel for what the sim things it should be? or does the sim just do it randomly if you leave them at 0

I often do this for exhibition games, but you want to set at 1 for all because you can't set 3-pt settings at 0.

yeah it works essentially the same way on that front as it did when you left. welcome back!

To be clear, if you set every player at "1", the game will try to have an even distribution for all players. I recognize the point that you cant use the 3pt setting at distro 0, but every player getting an equal number of shots is a much worse plan. At 0 across the board, the sim will set the distribution as they see fit (not equal for all players). For an experienced coach, the SIM set distribution is sub-standard, but it's okay for getting a feel for your team or coaches that are just starting.

i kinda thought setting everyone to 0 was equivalent to setting everyone to 2, in the HD code. something folks used to say from some time part of the HD code was published accidentally or something.

the 0s does a pretty darn even distro, i always figured that was correct. not positive though. and by that logic, i imagine all 1s or 5s or whatever would be the same.

important thing though, is we all agree the sim setting distro generally is crummy. i think its ok as getting a clue for players' performance or whatever but really not good to read too much into any of that.
