Being thrown out of a league in-season Topic

Has anybody ever been thrown out of a season in progress? I got booted today. I'm not sure why, to be honest. Maybe I'll tell the story later, (not naming names - maybe the commish in question will benefit from being given grace) but how do you get tossed? Can the league commish do that on his own, or does it have to go through customer service channels?

wow. Seems to me you ought to be able to get your $12.95 back...........unless?

We've played in many leagues together and I've never seen anything you have done that would warrant anything like that. That's messed up...

As someone who is also in that league, It was completely unwarranted and ridiculous.

I know the founder has expressed the desire for it (the league) to be an ongoing thing, I believe I can pretty safely say that this season will be my only time participating.

I will refrain from naming names as well, but having seen similar patterns of behavior from this individual in threads on here, I can’t say I was surprised with how things went down.

This is absolutely insane. I have been on this site for over 15 years and have seen some ****, but getting booted from a league? That’s a first. I want to hear more. Plus I have played in over 50 LIVE leagues where more can be said....

would definitely require a support ticket, you can't just do that on your own.

also who is the new owner of the team? does the commish take over or did someone else get brought in

The new owner responded to a sitemail asking if he wanted to take over a team because somebody may be quitting. I asked him without slinging mud around.

Yeah, I've got a ticket in progress. The only thing that wasn't posted in the league forum was a site mail where I told him to chill out, that his responses were over the top, and that I had received inquiries about his behavior - which is true. I didn't accuse him of anything, I just told him that the message he sent out league-wide at the beginning of the season was fishy when I got it, and given the current circumstances, it was quite contradictory. I'm hoping that CS will allow me back in that league. After the commish booted me, he sent me a taunting message and then blocked me. I won't be doing any of his leagues ever again.

Comical, but again…I can’t say I’m surprised

I've played in a bunch of leagues with you over the years and this seems nuts to me

I’m pretty sure I know who the commish is just based off the information in this thread.

sounds consistent with his behavior here.

Area51man, it's hard to piece together exactly what happened from what's in this thread. Would love to read the blow-by-blow from start to finish. Leave out the commish's name if you wish, but what the heck, if you feel like he done you wrong you might as well post it!

League commish starts a league that heavily utilizes WAA AAA with real names. On the eve of the games beginning he sends a league-wide message saying that he didn't realize that there weren't minimum IP or PA to be required to draft but is willing to let everything play out. (I think all but 8 teams in the 28 team league realized that the AAA were going to fill a lot of roster spots and drafted minimal useful players.) I looked at the commish's roster, and it was clear that he understood the parameters - he drafted minimally as well. I said nothing, even though I thought his message was fishy.

Maybe a week or two into the league, another owner voices his suspicion over the commish's AAA draw. This owner posts in the league chat that he thinks there might be foul play. This owner or another one (not sure) states that it is possible as a league founder to somewhat manipulate their AAA draw before people enter the league. (You can't see their ratings or their seasons, but you can decide that you like some of the names that pop up. Or if you don't, you can exit out of the league and re-form it and get a new AAA draw.). Customer Support has since verified that this CAN happen - I am not saying it did. Commish gets defensive of owner's musings and acts like a tyrant and DEMANDS that the owner stand down and shut up. At that point, a few others are talking about how the system could possibly be exploited. Commish demands that people stop talking about it.

on 9/17, the commish sends a league-wide message to everybody except the 1 owner, asking who might be interested in a 2nd team if it comes open. I ignore it. I then make a statement saying that I don't know about the exploitation aspect of the AAA, but I am now very wary of the original message talking about not knowing the draft parameters. I post that the way the commish built his roster is in direct conflict with his initial message. He publicly tells me to knock it off. I send him a message telling him that he needs to stand down and that the way he is acting is making everything worse - and that if he didn't do anything wrong, he didn't have to worry. His response was "Stop.Now." and then tries to explain away his original message, and tells me to put it to rest. He then publicly posts in the forum something about hoping my private message to him was an apology, even if it was a poor one, but that he was hoping that it was done and over - but he also said something to the effect of "so, you aren't going to stop?" I publicly responded that it was NOT meant as an apology. He then told me that he had admin on standby and had admin's "blessing." (whatever that means) The only snarky response I had in this whole situation was when quoted a line from Princess Bride, where I said, "Admin's Blessing? I do not think it means what you think it means." His response was something like, "Well, that was easy." I took that to mean that he thought he had ammo to get me booted. And apparently he did. I said nothing after Sunday morning, and I found out on monday that my team is gone. I look at my site mail and find the following message:
You probly don't recall, but about a year ago I remember you in forums with your bad attitude and superiority complex. So imagine who the last (or maybe first ?) person I needed any public league chat drama with is ? How'd that taste ? I sure enjoyed it !!
So, the dude accuses me of a bad attitude and superiority complex - and I have no idea what interaction he's talking about - he boots me out, and taunts me, then blocks me. I'm sure Im missing a few items here, but I no longer have access to the league page. I never accused him of anything, asked a couple of questions, told him privately to chill out, watched him treat me and others like a power-tripping narcissistic dictator, and got tossed. Funny thing is that I think he wanted to toss someone. The site mail on 9/17 to everyone but one owner looks like he wanted to toss that guy, but decided to toss me instead. I know this looks like a lot of back and forth he said/he said, but I don't have beef with anyone. The closest thing anybody could think of was probably 15 years ago when I went on the classic "rate my team" rants - but those were always in jest. I don't bully and don't have a superiority complex. I just want to play ball. This dude has a chip on his shoulder or something. Unless he has an alias, he's had less than 30 teams and clearly doesn't; understand what being a commish is all about.

So there it is. I'm awaiting a response from CS on this whole thing to see what they were told. I have asked to be fully reinstated into that league. We'll see how it goes.

This seems absolutely nuts

Crazy stuff indeed. Thanks for the detailed breakdown, Area51man. I assume you'll get your money back at least?
