When players are first team all defense they receive a 90 D rating. When players who were 90s, but don’t make the all defensive team they are given a 70 D rating. An example of this is LeBron James.
Bob Pettit was among the players who received bump ups on his defensive ratings. In the middle of a bunch of 90 D seasons he has a 61 D season. His SP48 and BP48 are both better in 61/62 than in 63/64. He is a 61 in 61/62 and a 90 in 63/64.
It seems to me that if we are giving out 70s and 60s for players who had been 90s and 80s for more modern players we should also do the same for our newly created all defense teams.
