Six leagues. Four 100-win teams. None will win the World Series. Meanwhile, it appears three teams that got outscored during the regular season are going to be World Series winners. Am I the only one who sees this as a problem with the sim?

since 2000 there have been 14 one hundred win teams. one of them won the world series. two lost the world series.

given what happens in actual post seasons probably not. i know my team had some very good players who only had 400 ish PA's so they had to sit for nice long stretches. they were all rested once the post season hit so the rest settings are turned off and they play all of every game rather than sitting down with a lead or a deficit.

The fact is that there is a measurable home field advantage in real life baseball. There is not in the sim. Year after year, the overall home field winning percentage in the sim hovers right around .500. Until admin ever fixes this flaw, we will continue to see weak playoff teams win the World Series an unrealistic percent of the time.

Did you tally how many teams with a negative run differential have won the world series in real life? My guess is probably never (maybe once?). The fact that is happens so frequently here clearly means something needs to be fixed.

the sim is very different from real life baseball in that you know before the season starts how much you can rely on a player to be in the game. you can dump your weaker bench players all in games together with a low quality pitcher and loose twenty games by an average of 15-1 giving you a 300-30 deficit in those games. if in the rest of their 142 games they average 4-2 on the positive side you are looking at 568-284. total of 598 rs to 584 runs allowed. add in having a rest setting to give up on games your down in the 7th and you might well have a 84 win team making the playoffs that will be better than a 100 win team that played every single game to win.

in real life you can't do that because you don't know how many productive appearances you have.

another option would be three quality starters and one crappy one. 28-12 in starts by the first 3, 5-35 in starts by the last one. the last guy inflates the runs allowed but doesn't see the mound in the post season.

You are not telling me anything I don't already know. I realize this is a strategy people use in the sim which is part of the reason the "best" teams rarely win the World Series. It's a flaw in the game and should be fixed. Instituting some kind of home field advantage factor (like they do in the sim basketball game) would help curtail this ""gaming the game strategy".

If you've had as many 110-win teams lose to 80-win teams as I have, you might feel the same way.
