Saint Peters in Smith World Topic

Funny, when i was in Smith World recently, i was at Kentucky for a handful of years.

One year i lost in Round One to Saint Peters... i think the Peacocks were Sim run, with a talented human having left the year before but leaving a great roster.

Mightve been 8 to 10 HD seasons ago?

Anyway, i cursed the HD gods, except Aphrodite cuz she's sexy. I wanted to quit HD. i guess soon after i did leave Smith.

Anyway, fun times.

haha, except aphrodite... any of y'all play smite? smite aphrodite is... ridiculous i suppose. but it made me think of her.

i finally bit the bullet and decided to play dark souls. getting utterly reamed, but you know, not nearly as bad as kentucky on thursday night. i was really looking forward to a couple weeks of work slacking to watch the tournament, and some more casual entertainment than my usual fare, sigh. its usually like 50/50 if i'll keep watching much after kentucky is out, but man... i can't carry on after that. great job by st peters though, they really played with a lot of heart.

probably not most folks' cup of tea, folks around here any way. its a 3rd person game where you run around killing human controlled players, and everyone plays as a god, like zeus or aphrodite, and they have all kinds of pantheons so there is like, thor and loki from norse, and a whole ton of others from ancient mayan, chinese, japanese, etc pantheons. you can generally run up and whack someone with a sword (or similar instrument), and/or cast spells / abilities to do damage or stun folks, that sort of thing. it can be really frustrating, but its also really satisfying to run around killing everyone, when things go that way...

the female characters basically all cater to teen aged boys, well endowed and that sort of thing, not exactly the most wholesome but, its especially true for aphrodite. which is kinda what made me think of it, i suppose?

Ok thats funny. Yeah, not sure i'm ready for that, haha.

Aphrodite came to mind cuz i said the HD Gods hate me... but i know she's the sexy one.

My brother in Wash DC was recently at the National Gallery, and called to tell me was in the room with works of Gilbert Stuart, our legendary local Rhode Island-born artist who painted Washington, Adams, etc...

anyway i always remember when i was there once, that close-by G Stuart is a beautiful marble figure by Antonio Canova of an Aphrodite-esque woman named Naiad or Diana... always worth seeing.

Take care! By the way, were we together in the SEC of Smith World about a year ago?

hmm, it would have had to have been via co-coaching with chap, at either vandy or UK. i think vandy was a 2/day though. smith sounds familiar, was it him at UK there perhaps?

It looks like it was Smith Season 120. Right, Chap was at LSU (had just moved to Baton Rouge from UK), and you may have been co-coaching (or co-coached soon after)?

Using Chap's former UK players i made it to the Finals in Season 119... then the following season, 120, i went 15-1 in the SEC, got a 2-seed, and lost to Sim Saint Peters in Round One... yeesh!

yikes! we played uk together there, maybe the last 10 seasons, maybe less even. but lsu was all him! uk is a pretty tough spot IMO, its nice you did well with them after we left, i always like to leave the next coach something to work with

Being a huge Kentucky fan .. I am still a little upset by the real loss :)

I'll get over it though, I always do. I am defiantly not a fire Cal guy. He has made UK relevant in recruiting again. Winning it all is just hard.

i mostly agree, i feel like his seat is at least up to room temperature now though. that's a pretty rough last two seasons, getting dangerously close to a decade without a final four.

i think he's had some misfortune, pj's last year injuries late in the season really messed up their flow even though everyone was back for the NT, and i think you could say the same about this season? and covid was a thing. i am personally not getting to the 'firecal.com' level but i do think... he needs to do something sooner rather than later.

its kind of a shame, i feel like cal is a great steward for the young men who come through the program, and he's basically perfect as ambassador for the program and the state. i really hope things pick up. i've never felt he was actually that good of a coaching coach, but i'm always hopeful he can succeed in spite of that. that hope has dimmed though, i used to hope he could sort of be a great hero of kentucky, win a handful of titles. now i hope he can win one more :) that would still make him a lesser hero of sorts, i mean he already is, kinda, but i really hope for his sake and ours, he does what pitino, tubby, and hall could not and picks up that #2. i really would like to see him depart uk victorious, a conquerer, not pushed to the door, he's like just on that edge of good enough to stay as long as he wants IMO. i'm a fan, i really want him to fall on the right side of that line!
