I'll voice the dissenting opinion and say I think this is great. You and I have already decided this game is good and worth our $12.95, or we wouldn't have hundreds of thousands of games under our collective belts. Whether or not they offer me a promotional rate, I'm hooked. Offering me a discount of a few dollars wouldn't impact how many leagues I play at all, but for a newbie or someone who's been inactive for a while, it could draw them in. The game is being bolstered by new customers and they're still getting my $12.95 to put towards improving the game. I'm all for it.

What would make me feel more valued as a loyal customer is more regular updates on the rebuild/new features...but that's a topic for another thread.

I think they can do both. They can offer a 50% off code for new/returning players and a 25% off code for current players. It encourages new owners while still making current patrons feel appreciated.

I've always found it odd that WIS gives all the rewards to people who do well in the game and none to people who don't. Seems like you'd want to make the owners struggling to get over the top feel like their loyalty in filling leagues while likely finishing under .500 was appreciated.

Instead you end up in a situation where winning owners can play for free indefinitely and the losing owners quit rather than pay more. I don't think its a good thing for the site when you see owners refuse to sign up for leagues that don't give them a chance in the TOC.

100%. If the current player base felt more appreciated, there likely wouldn’t be the need for as many to return.
