Advantage of position change Topic

What’s the advantage of doing a position change? Not sure. I mean I can play my guy at whatever position he qualifies for, so why should I change his primary one from one guard to the other or whatever?

there is none, it is purely cosmetic / organizational.

if you use player roles, then the overall rating score you use, is based on the listed position. so for folks who use player roles, there is more incentive to change positions of players.

in theory, you could make all your PGs centers, and vice versa, and be annoying to game plan against, but this is generally sort of considered a dick move, and i haven't seen it out in the wild. that's really the only thing anyone has come up in terms of an actual advantage, and its a pretty sketchy one at that.

Thanks! I have a lot of point guards and shooting guards and I move them to other positions liberally. Normally the other guard or the small forward position.

It helps with awards. But awards are also more or less nice to haves. I change positions to reflect where I'm going to play my players on the court...though I tend to switch up my lineups throughout the season.

Increases my chance of more conference all americans if I don't have 3 PGs listed on my team all starting at different positions.

I’m pretty certain this is just superstition, but if I am trying to redshirt a guy, I will move a better player or two to his position so he’s 3 or 4th best at that position. I’m fairly certain there are greater behind the scenes mechanics than that but I figure it can’t hurt.

thank you... forgot about this... you are correct. all american awards can impact EEs which can impact prestige, so that is tangible.

allegedly, per CS, redshirting does not take into account listed position. this is the main thing where folks don't seem totally convinced though. the other one that comes up sometimes is the EE board. seble said both of those were no listed position impact, back while he was still here. (no direct impact anyway - as pointed out above - there are those all american awards, which definitely are position driven)
