Grades Question Topic

How many terms are there in Hoops Dynasty? I’ve received two mid-term grades and two final grades this season and assumed because everyone was eligible, I would drop my seniors’ study hall minutes to zero. I decided to the post in the forum because I got scared of the idea of there somehow being another term and my seniors being ruled ineligible.

similar question but does a player need a 2.0 that term and a 2.0 cumulative to play? Or just a 2.0 cumulative?

Just two terms. After the Final grades (a few games before conference games end) will be the final posting. After that you can remove study hall practice without any punishment.

Player needs above a 2.0 for any term or risks sitting out. I'm not sure about cumulative but I'd assume they'd have to stay above that as well. That would be pretty rare for someone to have a cumulative below 2.0 unless you just were ignoring it the whole time.

Thanks basketss. Just to make sure I’m reading this correctly, after I’ve received the second set of final grades, there’s another final posting to wait for before removing study hall minutes?

Once you’ve got that second final grades, you are good to remove study hall minutes.

There's four emails so you should be good: The midpoint to the mid-term, the midterm, the midpoint to the final, and the final-term. After that fourth email, you are good to go removing study hall minutes.

Only the mid-term and the final-term are ones you have to worry about as far as the 2.0 goes. The midpoint emails are just there to let you know that someone might be behind and clue you into bumping up the study hall minutes.

Is there any benefit to study hall minutes after the final grades?

What minutes should I use for people at 3.0 GPA? 3.5? 2.5? I know everyone is different, but I just got midterms and most are well over 3.0 so I feel like I may be overdoing it.

I’m typically at between 5-7 minutes.

I feel like this is an area where the community tends to like to play it safe, but I’d believe that about half to three quarters of your players would pass with 2 min or less (especially upperclassmen and high WE).

I always run 4-5 minutes until the final email then run 0.

Freshman and Sophomores tend to need more minutes, especially the players coming in with low high school gpas. I rarely need to give minutes to Juniors and Seniors.

zero.

if you are playing it safe with your freshman, you can safely 0 just about everyone else. at least all soph+ at 3.0+ i would say should be automatic for everyone everywhere. adjust at midterms if needed. that's sort of the most wasteful you can get without absurd levels of waste.

i don't play it safe with my freshman, i mostly 0 everybody, but that's not necessarily for everyone. folks who don't want to worry about grades should give freshman under a 3.0 some minutes, perhaps 3.5 - HS GPA or something. that would be very safe. then you should be able to 0 everyone else, because you took care of it freshman year. maybe not like 2.5 sophs but, you almost will never have those. if you give freshman SH, then basically all your non-freshman end up having solid grades and being easy 0s - or at least 95% will

folks who are giving 3.0 sophs, 2.8 juniors/seniors, those kinds of players, even a single minute of study hall, are being grossly wasteful. there's effectively zero benefit at that point.
