Generally I agree, it’s the players, or team composition. However Girardi has for 2.5 years been very docile. Goes by the sabermetrics even when it hurts the team, and they and him have shown no fire. Right now without him they are winning 10-0 with 5 HR. It’s like they woke up. Fear it’s a one day thing however.
Sabermetric Girardi rule, 1. no reliever could pitch 3 games in a row. Even if it means your closer and top set up guys were unavailable and you had to get a lesser guy trying to close.
rule 2 certain players have to have specific days off. Like a catcher can never start a day game after a night game.
Rule 3 every hitter on your bench must start about once a week, even if he is a backup, and your pulling a starter against the Mets (division leader)
Now I realize this is the new thing, but I prefer a manager that goes by his gut ,Charlie Manuel or one that has emotion and transfers that to the players, Larry Bowa. Girardi was too cool, sitting and reading his charts while they blew game after game..
