The strategy of beating Ruth in high cap leagues Topic

I enjoy the freedom of picking my favorite players in high cap leagues. I am not a fan of clones, and have noticed many high cap teams load up on Ruth. I have seen teams where he is playing all three outfield positions and first base.
Because of the firepower available in high cap leagues, and sticking to my principles of never having clones on my team, it took awhile to conjure a winning defensive strategy.
I typically built my team around high average high HR players. However, they couldn't match the numbers of a team of Ruths'. This meant a stadium that would be good for my offense got crushed by Ruthian teams. This is my plan to combat a team of Babes'.
First use low walk, high strike out, low OAV, and low HR pitchers . Secondly draft a team of high batting average, high slugging %, but not high HR players with great defense ratings. Then set your home turf to be in a stadium with minus two or better HR ratings and plus double and triple ratings and high stadium impact number.. Be sure to carry one or two power hitters on the bench to play when at plus HR parks while on the road.
This seems to neutralize the Ruth impact.
Thoughts or ideas?

low HR/9 elite left handed pitchers would be ideal, sadly there aren't too many of those in the sim, at least as starters. this is part of what makes the Ruth clone strategy so effective. there are guys like 2020 Brad Hand and Victor Gonzalez you could use out of the pen though. low HR/9 is definitely what you want to focus on, you also want good HR/9+ as someone like 1913 Walter Johnson will still give a lot of bombs to Ruths even though his raw HR/9 is quite low.

definitely get in a -4 HR home park and load up on deadball doubles and triples hitters, thats a good idea.

Not sure why you would need high strikeout pitchers.

Remember that in WIS the type of out is determined AFTER the step in the algorithm that decides hit or out. So high-K pitchers do not limit balls in play, all else being equal.

The cream still rises to the top. You won't ever completely shut him down. Great pitching is better than what he saw in real life. That will slow him down. Low OAV, low HR/9 are ideal. Negative HR park factors will help.

Agree w/ C23 here. I dont know if you shut him down but if you look at most seasons, Ruth usually hits 50 points less against LHP. Now if you are going against .378 year, he will still hit .320...hahah. He is singlehandedly the MOST dominant player in WIS.
