Fielding Question Topic

Still learning the impacts of fielding... Question for the vets..

If you were to say build a team of all A/A fielders, would their impact be felt more in a hitters park over a pitchers park or vice versa? Where would the advantage make the biggest impact in trying to return wins?

This is probably something that will have different opinions, and there are a lot of variables (like when your players are from…not all A/A’s are created equally, what your pitching staff looks like, what your offense looks like), but my immediate response is hitters park. Your defense will prevent runs scored with fewer errors and more hits taken away through range, and your hitters will benefit from the park to give you runs scored.

I build a lot of A+ range teams, and I always put them in Baker Bowl or Hilltop to get the most out of my fielders and hitters.

hitters park for great range since there will be more hits to take away. for great fielding percentage i would say it probably doesn't make much of a difference, you need to get 27 outs regardless of park.

i would advise against going with both A fielding and A range for most of your players, you will be spending a fortune on defense and won't have enough left for hitting and pitching.

Thank you! I have never done it, but was thinking about trying to mess around with it and see if its possible to win a division with it.

Thank you! I tend to also stick to range mostly.. I forgot about that as well, I just don't think sometimes that fielder grades from lets say 20s and 80s are different but everything is normalized, not sure why its a lapse in thinking, guess I just see the grade and think its built equal... I will have to write that down and keep it in my head when drafting going forward.

When I Draft whatever the Salary is I look at top RC27 picks (if I am requiring better fielding or it is a consideration for specific reason or stadium) with Fielding at least 3 or D+ to 12 and Range at least 6 or C+ to 12 ... Usually there are some good A and B Range Fielders to choose from weighing in RC27 and whatever else you look at including $/PA PA/162 #AVG #OBP #SLG Speed SB ... Sometimes I will forgo any Fielding Rating and use a D especially for OF or RF if Player is Right Offensively like a 1927 Bob Meusel who is a D/C- and 1922 Harry Heilmann D/D-
