The spiteful side of me would like all of the teams not in the SEC and big whatever get together and form their own league, refusing to compete with those two conferences. I know this can’t and won’t happen but I’d love it.

I have no doubt that Clemson, Oregon, Florida St., Miami, Norte Dame, Washington, Stanford, Baylor, Oky St., and others could land a great TV deal and survive with all the other remaining D1 programs. I also know than many of those teams will give into the $$$ and join the two Megan’s.

Let the SEC and Big 10 just constantly play each other and have their own championship. Both conferences have at least a few dogs in them and their championship will still come down to Bama, UGA, LSU, OSU and maybe Oklahoma (though I think Riley leaving will be a huge setback). So it’ll be the same old thing but limited to less than 40 teams.

The remains DI programs could have a nice 8-12 team tournament to decide their champion and it would draw a nice audience.
