Leave in Longer is Bull Topic

2 fouls at 19:12 first half, he doesn't return till 5:57 in the 1st half. Setting is at leave in longer ... how bout an option to just Leave in as in normal, let him foul out if he's gunna be slap happy. Annoyed at that setting

well, he would have come in a few minutes later with leave in longer on, so it at least helped a little bit? i agree though its somewhat limited.

the fact that it is so limited is why almost everyone should be using this setting for all players. i agree it would be pretty interesting if the setting was opened up to allow more control, but there's also a bit of a risk there from the standpoint of keeping things realistic. in real basketball the last 5 minutes matters so much. in HD, it doesn't. the lack of realism here doesn't come from the leave in longer setting not letting you leave your guy in through all foul trouble, it comes from the lack of human emotions that keep games close and make the last 5 minutes so essential. not a super easy thing to address IMO

I gotchya, and that's a really really good point in using it for all players. As it happened to him earlier in the season leaving around the 17 minute mark and not coming back till 4 minutes left in the half, and like that game he didn't foul out. My aggrevation came with fulfilling promised minutes (which he'll be fine, just got my panties in a bunch last night). But yeah, after participating and witnessing the nuances of promised minutes in 3.0 I'd rather have an added option to keep a player in and fouls be darned and let em' foul out, rather than be penalized in minutes. In terms of realism in this particular scenario, I'd get him his promised minutes and then down the clutch sit his butt in favor of an upperclassmen with higher iq and better rebounding, but thankfully I can just alter the lineup free of charge in the conference tourney.

Gillispie, while I got you. I used to know the number years ago on my old long lost handle, and was actually looking for your old post on it this week. What is the 3pt fg% that is equivalent to 50% 2-pt fgs, is it 38% or is it lower?

Thanks

"in real basketball the last 5 minutes matters so much. in HD, it doesn't"

I don't really agree that the last 5 min in real bball matters so much. I've always really felt this way. If you are conservative with foul trouble subs and pull players when they pick up 2 fouls, then you limit the MAXIMUM # of mins a player can play. Why would you want to do that. You could he totally out of the game by the time you get to that last 5 minutes, so at that point, who cares.

I will say, there is a legit psychological affect of leaving a player in with 2 or 3 fouls early. They won't be as aggressive and will try to avoid fouling at all costs. So there is that

I will say, fouling is by far the most unrealistic part of the HD engine. We've all had players foul in ~5 min. It's ridiculous.
