Took over a B1G program whose previous manager had done no recruiting in his exit year. Had to keep everybody and grab a couple of scrubs.
Do I still get attention points and recruiting $$ for dropping players i did not recruit, even though they have now played for me for a season?

Yes.

Absolutely. Can really help on getting a great late signer for your program

Similar question: do you get the attention and recruiting $ if you drop a scholarship player that was recruited for you by SIm AI because you did not recruit enough players?

Yes you do

How big of a hit would you likely take reputationally by rescinding a scholly from a player you recruited and redshirted?

from an a+, you might drop to a high a- or so, but this won't have a material impact on anything unless you are about to switch jobs the very next season. and even then its only a handful of school like ivy league who care about that a-. cutting multiple players you recruited can add up, but as long as you aren't switching jobs for a few seasons, there's basically no downside to that, either. WIS took out the part where another player could randomly (low probability) get mad and quit in protest, over pulling "their buddy's" ship, which was the only consequence with any teeth (unless you were about to switch jobs).

Thanks Gillispie - that makes sense. Part II of the question is whether you would dump a player (who won't play much for me but is a serviceable back-up) for a Transfer with 3 years to play, better ratings and growth, BUT a 1 for WE? A secondary question is that obviously this was an unhappy player, which perhaps led to the 1 Work Ethic rating - will that change if he's now playing with my team or will I be saddled with a player who's potential (green and blue ratings primarily) will frustrate me as his improvements will be limited heavily by the 1 WE?

the 1 WE player will not improve because he's with your team. he won't grow though from his current ratings, you lose a couple points in some places really, by the time he graduates he will be worse than now. so kinda depends how useful he is given the lack of growth... if he's still much better than the guy you cut, then i guess its perhaps worth in? but in general a guy with blues and greens and 1 WE is not going to be a player you want. probably dump the player you don't like but find someone else (or take a walkon and use the money to find someone good next year)?

Was kind of my thought - (bummer on the 1 WE - would have been an amazing D3 player if he improved by his greens/blues). Thanks.
